You have questions, and we have answers. Take a look at the questions below, and if you have any more just let us know.

When can my child get a permit?
Individuals who are 15 years old may register for a BMV approved driver education course and are eligible to get their permit. Our course is comprised of 30 hours of in-class training and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. A student can get their permit after they have registered for the course, paid a deposit or the full amount, and received the CDE form from us.

Does my child have to take a test to get the permit?
Yes, all individuals wishing to obtain a permit must take a 50 questions multiple choice test. This test is NOT retaken when getting a license and is done at the local BMV.

When can my child get a license?
Any student who completes the FULL course may get their license at 16 and 90 days. However, they must have also held their permit for 180 days. Both requirements must be met to obtain a license.

How do I get the permit?
To receive a Driver Education Learner Permit, you must first be enrolled in the classroom and driving portion. Once enrolled you will need a Certificate of Driver Education (CDE Form), a birth certificate, a social security card, and 2 forms of residency. You will then take those documents to the BMV and take the written exam. You must pass the exam to receive the permit.

When can I start driving with my child?

When can I schedule my drives?

How long is the CDE form valid?
The CDE form is valid for 180 days. If you do not receive your permit within the first 180 days the CDE form has been issued, it will expire. You would then have to contact S&B to receive another form.

Do you give the Drive Test Waiver?
Any student who completes a full driver education course, both classroom and behind the wheel, is eligible to take the waiver test with us. It is included in the original fee. However, it is not a part of their 6 hours. It must be done separate from their 6 hours and we prefer that they wait until they are within a month of receiving their license to schedule it. If you schedule the drive test but do not show up, S&B will not reschedule for a later day.

What car is used to complete the drives?
All drives will be completed using our vehicles. Our vehicles are fully insured and have a dual control brake system.

Do your instructors have to complete background checks?
